Educate millions of families in different living situations about how to stay safe in a fire
Allison Worldwide partnered with Raconteur to create this video series about fire safety. The videos were made for National Fire Prevention Week in 2022 and were based on research from FSRI – The Fire Safety Research Institute.
Raconteur created the 3D models, the animations and fire/smoke VFX. Allison Worldwide handled the rest of production.

The Challenge
FSRI needed 3D visualizations of home fires with high technical accuracy, pulling from limited research data.
It was also important that the 3D renders and fire/smoke simulations were developed with a distinctive style and “look”.
The simulation and animations needed to be composited with life-action footage in a “weatherman style” setup.
Raconteur created preliminary tests to show different styles of 3D rendering, fire and smoke to help FSRI pick the style that fit their needs.
The VFX team used 2-3 different smoke simulation techniques to accommodate both 3D camera moves and static “informational” shots.
They used compositing techniques to adjust the style of the smoke in post-production according to client feedback and ensure the finished video was technically accurate.
The launch was a success with the series preview reaching over 1M views on YouTube leading up to National Fire Prevention Week.
The subsequent, more detailed videos accumulated over 90k views in total.
The videos successfully got life-saving research out to the public in a way that motivated them to learn and implement a plan.
